COME AND JOIN US

Cor Meibion Cwm Garw is a Welsh Valley Male Voice Choir and our spiritual home is the Garw Valley in Glamorganshire, South Wales. Our valley is in the heart of what used to be the South Wales Coalfield.

The choir always extends a warm welcome to new members, be they experienced choristers or complete novices. Don't worry!, there is no singing test, you don't even need to know if you are a tenor, a baritone, or a bass. Just turn up, take a seat and sing along with the boys. Within a few moments, our Director of Music, Mr. Bryan Young, will know what your singing voice is, he will then direct you to the correct section of the choir. Simple hey!

The choir performs at a variety of venues ranging through churches, hotels, community centres, social clubs and retirement homes. Our performances can start as early as 11am for weddings to as late as 9pm for a particular charity concert, and anything in between.
Take a look at our engagement pages to give you some idea of a typical choir year.

There is an active social side to the choir, after finishing an early evening concert we normally repair to the nearest hostelry for the "oldywyn" (afterglow). This entails lots of singing and a few drinks (or is it the other way round). These impromptu concerts are always well received by the local patrons.
In late April 2010 we are going on a short tour to Northampton where we have been engaged to sing at a wedding reception on the Friday evening. On the Saturday evening we are performing at a concert with Northampton Male Voice Choir and we are all looking forward to meeting new friends.

If you feel that this is something that you would like to be involved in then "come and join us".
We practice between 7pm-8.30pm Monday and Wednesday in the upstairs concert room of Pontycymer Rugby Club. We are quite informal and friendly so, just come along !.

SEE YOU THERE
